Folding the rear seat backrest forwards

WARNING Risk of becoming trapped when adjusting the seats

When you adjust a seat, you may trap yourself or a vehicle occupant.

When adjusting a seat, make sure that no one has any body parts in the sweep of the seat.

WARNING Risk of an accident because the seat backrest is not engaged

The seat backrest may fold forwards.

There is a risk of the following, in particular:

The vehicle occupant may be pressed against the seat belt. The seat belt cannot protect as intended and could cause additional injury.
A child restraint system is no longer properly supported or properly positioned and may no longer fulfil its function as intended.
The seat backrest cannot restrain objects or goods in the boot‑ or load compartment.

Always ensure that the seat backrest is engaged, especially:

After you have adjusted the seat
After the load compartment enlargement has been folded forwards

Make sure that the red marking of the lock verification indicator is no longer visible. Otherwise, the seat backrest will not be locked.

Always ensure that all vehicle occupants have their seat belts fastened correctly and are sitting properly. Particular attention must be paid to children.

Requirements:

The rear seat backrest head restraints are fully inserted.
Vehicles with a folding rear armrest: the rear armrest has been folded up.

Folding the rear outer seat backrests forward mechanically

You can fold the centre and right seat backrests forwards separately.

The left seat backrest can be folded forwards only together with the centre seat backrest.

If you no longer require the folded-down rear seat backrest as a load area, fold the backrest back into place.

Ensure that the centre seat backrest is in an upright position and engaged with the left seat backrest More.

Press the seat belt tongue of seat belt

into marked position

Move the driver's or front passenger seat forwards, if necessary.

Pull release lever

Fold the corresponding seat backrest forwards.

Folding the rear outer seat backrests forward electrically

Depending on the vehicle equipment, you can fold the outer seat backrests forward electrically.

You can fold the centre and right seat backrests forwards separately.

The left seat backrest can be folded forwards only together with the centre seat backrest.

If you no longer require the folded-down rear seat backrest as a load area, fold the backrest back into place.

Ensure that the centre seat backrest is in an upright position and engaged with the left seat backrest More.

Press the seat belt tongue of seat belt

Vehicles without a memory function: move the driver's or front passenger seat forwards, if necessary.

Vehicles with a memory function: if at least one section of the rear seat backrest is folded forwards, the corresponding front seat will move forwards slightly, if necessary, to avoid a collision.

In the rear: pull release lever

In the load compartment: briefly pull one of buttons

The corresponding seat backrest will fold forwards. The left seat backrest folds forward together with the centre seat backrest.

If the left seat backrest is not engaged with the centre seat backrest, this will be shown on the multifunction display on the instrument cluster.

Folding the centre rear seat backrest forwards separately.

If you no longer require the folded-down seat backrest as a loading area, fold the backrest back into place.
