Operating Remote Parking Pilot

WARNING Risk of accident due to objects located above or below the detection range of Parking Pilot

If there are objects above or below the detection range, the following situations may arise:

Parking Pilot may steer too early.
The vehicle may not stop in front of these objects.

This could cause a collision.

In these situations, do not use Parking Pilot.

Objects located above or below the detection range of Parking Pilot are not detected when the parking space is being measured. These are also not taken into account when the parking manoeuvre is calculated, e.g. overhanging loads, overhangs or loading ramps of lorries or the boundaries of the parking space. In some circumstances, Parking Pilot may therefore guide you into the parking space prematurely.

WARNING Danger due to insufficient view of the vehicle surroundings

If the vehicle is being parked with Remote Parking Pilot, the view of the vehicle's surroundings may be limited.

When you park the vehicle with Remote Parking Pilot, observe the following points:

Make sure that you have the best view possible of the vehicle and the vehicle's surroundings.
Make sure that no persons, animals or objects are in the path of your vehicle.
Make sure that you maintain a suitable distance to the vehicle and that neither you nor other road users could be endangered.
Be aware of the vehicle's surroundings at all times and identify possible dangers.
If necessary, cancel the parking process.

Keep the key with you during the parking manoeuvre. You can cancel the parking manoeuvre and bring the vehicle to a standstill by pressing a button on the key.

Keep in mind that the system limits must be observed at all times. If necessary, cancel the parking manoeuvre.

Please note that you can only use Remote Parking Pilot if you have a valid driving licence.

No persons are permitted to remain in the vehicle during the parking manoeuvre.

Always make sure that other road users can access their vehicles.

Press button

The Parking Pilot view appears on the display of the multimedia system. Area displays detected parking spaces and vehicle path .

Vehicle path shown on the multimedia system display may differ from the actual vehicle path.

If you have driven past a suitable parking space: bring the vehicle to a standstill.

Area is activated.

Select transmission position

Select the desired parking space in area

and confirm.

Start the Remote Parking Pilot app.

Ensure that your mobile phone and Parking Pilot are connected More.

Exit the vehicle.

Ensure that all vehicle doors are closed.

Park the vehicle in the parking space using your mobile phone.

After completion of the parking manoeuvre, safeguard the vehicle against rolling away. Turn the wheels towards the kerb if required by legal requirements.

On completion of the parking manoeuvre, the vehicle is automatically locked.

Taking over a parking manoeuvre of Parking Pilot

Park the vehicle with Parking Pilot More.

When the vehicle is in the desired position, select transmission position

Parking Pilot is ended and Remote Parking Pilot is activated.

Exit the vehicle.

Ensure that all vehicle doors are closed.

Start the Remote Parking Pilot app.

Park the vehicle in the parking space using your mobile phone.

Parking with exploration mode

Bring the vehicle to a standstill.

Area is activated.

To activate Remote Parking Pilot, select transmission position

Select your own vehicle

and confirm.

Start the Remote Parking Pilot app.

Ensure that your mobile phone and Parking Pilot are connected More.

Exit the vehicle.

Ensure that all vehicle doors are closed.

Using the mobile phone, drive the vehicle forwards or backwards to the desired position.

The parking manoeuvre requires a minimum parking space size. If clearances get smaller during the parking manoeuvre, e.g. if the vehicle is being driven into a garage, a message will appear on the mobile phone. You will need to confirm the reduced clearances.

On completion of the parking manoeuvre, the vehicle is automatically locked.

Exiting a parking space with exploration mode

Unlock the vehicle.

Start the Remote Parking Pilot app within one minute.

Using the mobile phone, drive the vehicle forwards or backwards to the desired position.
