Fitting the ISOFIX child restraint system on the rear seat
WARNING Risk of injury or death if the permissible gross mass of the child and child restraint system together is exceeded

For ISOFIX child restraint systems in which the child is secured using the integrated seat belt integrated in the child restraint system, the permissible gross mass of the child and child restraint system is 33 kg.

If the child and the child restraint system together weigh more than 33 kg, the ISOFIX child restraint system with integrated seat belt does not offer sufficient protection. An excessive load may be placed on the ISOFIX child seat attachments and the  child may not be restrained in the event of an accident, for example.

If the child and the child restraint system together weigh more than 33 kg, only use an ISOFIX child restraint system which secures the child with the vehicle seat belt.
Also secure the child restraint system with the Top Tether belt, if available.
Always comply with the information about the mass of the child restraint system:

  • in the manufacturer's installation and operating instructions for the child restraint system used

  • on a label on the child restraint system, if present

Regularly check that the permissible gross mass of the child and child restraint system is still complied with.

When fitting a child restraint system, observe the following:
  • Always observe the correct use and the suitability of the seats for attaching a child restraint system. ISOFIX child seat securing system More
  • Always comply with the manufacturer's installation and operating instructions for the child restraint system used.
  • Make sure that the child's feet do not touch the front seat. If necessary, move the front seat forward slightly.
When fitting an ISOFIX child restraint system, observe the following:
  • When using a baby car seat in Group 0/0+ and a rearward-facing child restraint system in Group 1 on a rear seat: adjust the front seat so that it does not touch the child restraint system.
  • When using a forward-facing child restraint system in Group 1: the backrest of the child restraint system must, as far as possible, lie flat against the backrest of the vehicle seat.
  • For certain child restraint systems in weight groups 2 or 3, there may be certain restrictions in the maximum size setting, e.g. due to possible contact with the roof.
  • When fitted, the child restraint system must not be braced between the roof and the seat and/or twisted. Where possible, set the seat cushion inclination accordingly.
  • The child restraint system must not be put under strain by the head restraint. Adjust the head restraints accordingly.

Before every trip, make sure that the ISOFIX child restraint system is engaged correctly in both ISOFIX mounting brackets.

Fold upholstered lining upwards.
Turn the support on the rear side of upholstered lining by 90°.

Upholstered lining remains folded upwards.

Attach the ISOFIX child restraint system to both mounting brackets in the vehicle.
