Towing the vehicle with the axle raised
WARNING Risk of accident when towing with the ignition switched on
When towing away with the front axle raised and the ignition switched on, ASR can brake the rear axle wheels in an erratic manner.
The vehicle can lose directional stability.
Switch off the ignition before towing the vehicle with the front axle raised.
NOTE Damage to the transmission due to towing with an axle raised on vehicles with 4x4 all-wheel drive
The transmission can be damaged by towing with the front or rear axle raised.
Vehicles with 4x4 all-wheel drive can either be towed with both axles on the ground or loaded and transported.
With the front or rear axle raised
On vehicles with front or rear wheel drive, always raise the drive axle.

Deactivate tow-away protection More.
Move the front wheels to the straight-ahead position.
If the rear axle is raised:
fix the steering wheel in the centre position with a steering wheel lock. Release the parking brake More.
Turn the key to position

Do not exceed a towing speed of 50 km/h.
