Automatically applying the electric parking brake

Vehicles with automatic transmission:

The electric parking brake is automatically applied when the transmission is in position .

In addition, at least one of the following conditions must be fulfilled:

the engine is switched off
the driver is not sitting in the driver's seat
the belt buckle is undone

To prevent the electric parking brake from applying automatically, pull switch .

The electric parking brake is also automatically applied if Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC has brought the vehicle to a standstill.

In addition, at least one of the following conditions must be fulfilled:

the engine is switched off
the driver is not sitting in the driver's seat
the belt buckle is undone
there is a system malfunction
the power supply is insufficient
the vehicle is stationary for a long time

The red indicator lamp in the instrument display lights up. The electric parking brake is only actually applied when the red indicator lamp lights up continuously.

Vehicles with manual transmission:

The electric parking brake is automatically applied if at least one of the following conditions has been fulfilled:

the engine is switched off
the driver leaves the driver's seat
the belt buckle is undone

To prevent the electric parking brake from applying automatically, pull switch .
