Traffic Sign Assist detects traffic signs with multifunction camera 
. It assists you by displaying detected speed limits and overtaking restrictions in the instrument cluster.
when the vehicle changes roads, e.g. motorway exit or slip road
when a village or town boundary stored in the digital map is passed
The system displays the traffic signs valid for the vehicle model registration. A distinction is made between the road signs valid for a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) ≤3.5 t, >3.5 t and camper vans.
If the system detects that you are driving onto a section of road in the wrong direction of travel, it triggers a warning.
The camera also detects traffic signs with a restriction indicated by an additional sign (e.g. when wet).
The system can warn you if you unintentionally exceed the maximum permissible speed. To do this, you can specify in the multimedia system by how much the maximum permissible speed can be exceeded before a warning is issued. You can specify whether the warning is to be just a visual warning or an audible one as well.
Only one of traffic signs or is displayed at any one time in the Instrument Display, if necessary with additional sign . If two valid traffic signs are detected at the same time, a plus sign appears next to the traffic sign in the Instrument Display as an indication that both traffic signs are displayed in the navigation system.
Traffic Sign Assist is not available in all countries. If it is unavailable, display is shown in the speedometer.
The system is affected by poor visibility, e.g. due to insufficient illumination of the road, highly variable shade conditions, or due to rain, snow, fog or heavy spray
The system is impaired by glare, e.g. from oncoming traffic, direct sunlight or reflections
The system is affected by dirt on the windscreen in the area of the multifunction camera, or because the camera is misted up, damaged or covered
The traffic signs are difficult to detect, e.g. due to dirt, because they are covered, or due to snow or insufficient lighting
The information in the navigation system's digital map is incorrect or out-of-date
The system is affected by ambiguous signs, e.g. traffic signs on construction sites or in adjacent lanes
