If the rear bench seat/rear seat and seat backrest are not engaged they could fold forwards, e.g. when braking suddenly or in the event of an accident.
If this is the case, the vehicle occupant would be forced into the seat belt by the rear bench seat/rear seat or by the seat backrest. The seat belt cannot protect as intended and could result in additional injury.
Objects or loads in the boot/load compartment cannot be restrained by the seat backrest.
If the left and right seat backrests are not engaged and locked in place, this will be shown on the multifunction display of the instrument cluster.
If the centre seat backrest is not engaged and locked in place, the red lock verification indicator will be visible.
For ISOFIX or i‑Size child restraint systems in which the child is secured using the seat belt integrated in the child restraint system, the permissible gross mass of the child and child restraint system is 33 kg.
If the child and the child restraint system together weigh more than 33 kg, the ISOFIX or i‑Size child restraint system with integrated seat belt does not offer sufficient protection. Too much load may be placed on the ISOFIX or i ‑Size child restraint systems and the child may not be restrained correctly in the event of an accident, for example.

Regularly check that the permissible gross mass of the child and child restraint system is still complied with.
Always observe the correct use of the seats and consider their suitability for attaching a child restraint system. - Make sure that the child's feet do not come into contact with the front seat. If necessary, move the front seat forward slightly.
When fitting an ISOFIX child restraint system, also observe the following: - When using a Group 0/0+ baby car seat and a Group 1 rearward-facing child restraint system on a rear seat: adjust the front seat so that the seat does not touch the child restraint system.
- When using a Group 1 forward-facing child restraint system: the backrest of the child restraint system must, as far as possible, lie flat against the backrest of the vehicle seat.
- You can have the head restraints of the rear seats removed and installed by a qualified specialist workshop. This may be necessary for the use of certain child restraint systems.
- For certain child restraint systems in weight group 2 or 3, there may be restrictions on the maximum size setting, e.g. due to possible contact with the roof.
- The child restraint system must not be tensioned between the roof and the seat cushion and/or be fitted facing the wrong direction. Where possible, adjust the seat cushion inclination accordingly.
- The child restraint system must not be put under strain by the head restraints. Adjust the head restraints accordingly.
When fitting an i‑Size child restraint system, also observe the following: - When using a rearward-facing child restraint system: adjust the front seat so that it does not touch the child restraint system.
- When using a forward-facing child restraint system: the backrest of the child restraint system must, as far as possible, lie flat against the backrest of the vehicle seat.
- You can have the head restraints of the rear seats removed and installed by a qualified specialist workshop. This may be necessary for the use of certain child restraint systems.
Before every trip, make sure that the ISOFIX child restraint system or the i‑Size child restraint system is engaged correctly in both mounting brackets in the vehicle.
