With the "smart guides" app you can also access information relating to the operation of your vehicle while you are out and about. The integrated Search function provides a fast and straightforward means of finding your desired topics. Animated short films help to acquaint you with new assistance systems. The app is available free of charge for your smartphone and tablet in iTunes and the Google Play Store and is subject to ongoing enhancement and updating.

With the "smart guides" app you can call up the owners' manuals for the current model series. The content is subject to ongoing expansion and updating. This means that the app is always one step ahead of the printed owner's manual, as updates and changes are available to you immediately.

The "smart guides" app is clearly and intuitively designed. On starting the app for the first time, select the guide for your chosen vehicle model. For this purpose, follow the selection options, choosing the model series, model variant and modification year, for example. You then have the option of viewing the guide online or downloading it and viewing it offline. You can add other vehicle models at any time by selecting "+" in "My guides". All your downloads are stored in "My guides". You can organise or delete the guides here. You can add further vehicle models here by selecting "+".

Under this menu item you will find highlights of the individual vehicles, which are visualised by means of animations and films. With some model series you can take a look behind the scenes by means of a making-of or a retrospective film.

You can click on the "Search" menu item and the magnifying glass symbol to enter a text search function. The text search function enables swift and direct access to desired content items of the guide. Enter the desired search term in the search window and suggestions will be added to your search inquiry. You will also be shown a search history comprising the most recently entered search terms. Please note that the integrated predictive text function may be activated in the settings on your smartphone or tablet. This function may generate autocomplete suggestions for the app which are unrelated to the guide content.

"Quick starts" and "Tips" provide you with a swift grounding on how to handle the vehicle and offer valuable tips for a more efficient driving experience. From entering the vehicle to linking your telephone to the Audio-System, the most important procedures, functions and controls are summarised and explained here. You will also find help on vehicle-related topics, such as measuring the tyre pressure or stowing the warning triangle.

If you download one or more smart guides, the corresponding guides will also be available to you off-line. Due to the large volumes of data involved, films are only available as streams and must be loaded before viewing, which requires a data connection.

In the "Settings" menu you can select the language for the app.
