Attaching a roof rack
WARNING Risk of injury if the maximum roof load is exceeded
When you load the roof, the centre of gravity of the vehicle rises and the usual driving characteristics as well as the steering and braking characteristics change. During cornering, the vehicle tilts more strongly and may react more sluggishly to steering movements.
If you exceed the maximum roof load, the driving characteristics, as well as the steering and braking characteristics, will be greatly impaired.
Always comply with the maximum roof load and adjust your driving style.
NOTE Vehicle damage from non-approved roof racks
The vehicle could be damaged by roof racks which have not been tested and approved by Mercedes-Benz.
Only use roof racks tested and approved by Mercedes-Benz.
Depending on the vehicle equipment, ensure that when the roof rack is fitted:
the sliding sunroof can be fully raised.
the boot lid can be fully opened.
Position the load on the roof rack in such a way that the vehicle will not sustain damage even when it is in motion.
NOTE Damage to the panoramic sliding sunroof when a roof rack is fitted
The panoramic sliding sunroof may be damaged by the roof rack if you attempt to open it when the roof rack is fitted.
Do not open the panoramic sliding sunroof if a roof rack is fitted.
In order to allow ventilation of the vehicle interior, you can raise the panoramic sliding sunroof.
NOTE Damage to the sliding sunroof when a roof rack is fitted
The sliding sunroof may be damaged by the roof rack if you attempt to open it when the roof rack is fitted.
Do not open the sliding sunroof when the roof rack is fitted.
In order to allow ventilation of the vehicle interior, you can raise the sliding sunroof.
NOTE Damage to the covers
The covers may be damaged and scratched when being opened.
Do not use metallic or hard objects.
Carefully fold the covers

. Comply with the roof rack manufacturer's installation instructions.
Secure the load on the roof rack.
Folding the rear seat backrest forwards
WARNING Risk of injury if the rear bench seat/rear seat and seat backrest are not engaged
If the rear bench seat/rear seat and seat backrest are not engaged they could fold forwards, e.g. when braking suddenly or in the event of an accident.
If this is the case, the vehicle occupant would be forced into the seat belt by the rear bench seat/rear seat or by the seat backrest. The seat belt cannot protect as intended and could result in additional injury.
Objects or loads in the boot/load compartment cannot be restrained by the seat backrest.
Make sure that the seat backrest and the rear bench seat/rear seat are engaged before every trip.
If the left and right seat backrests are not engaged and locked, this will be shown on the multifunction display of the instrument cluster. A warning tone will also sound.
If the centre seat backrest is not engaged and locked, the red lock verification indicator will be visible.
The centre and outer seat backrests can be folded forwards separately.
Vehicles without a memory function: move the driver's or front passenger seat forwards, if necessary.
Vehicles with a memory function: if at least one section of the rear seat backrest is folded forwards, the corresponding front seat will move forwards slightly, if necessary, to avoid a collision.
If necessary, fully insert the rear seat backrest head restraints.
Left and right seat backrests:
pull the left or right release handle . The corresponding seat backrest will fold forwards.
Centre seat backrest:
pull release catch

Folding the rear seat backrest back
WARNING Risk of accident and injury if the rear bench seat/rear seat and seat backrest are not engaged
If the rear bench seat/rear seat and seat backrest are not engaged, they could fold forwards, e.g. during sudden braking or in the event of an accident.
If this were the case, the vehicle occupant would be forced into the seat belt by the rear bench seat/rear seat or by the seat backrest. The seat belt would not be able to provide the intended protection and could cause additional injury.
Objects or loads in the boot cannot be restrained by the seat backrest.
Make sure that the seat backrest and the rear bench seat/rear seat are engaged before every trip.
NOTE Damage to the seat belt
The seat belt could become trapped and thus damaged when folding back the seat backrest.
Make sure that the seat belt is not trapped when folding back the seat backrest.
Move the driver's or front passenger seat forwards, if necessary.
Fold the corresponding seat backrest back until it engages.

A warning tone will also sound.

Opening the stowage space under the boot floor
NOTE Damage to the handle in the boot floor
If the handle in the boot is left protruding, the handle may be damaged.
Unhinge the handle before you close the boot lid and press the handle closed again.

WARNING Risk of injury due to using the through-load ski bag incorrectly
The through-load ski bag in conjunction with the lashing straps cannot restrain any objects other than skis.
Vehicle occupants could be struck in the event of sudden braking or an accident in the following cases:
if you transport other heavy or sharp-edged objects in the through-load ski bag
if you do not secure the through-load ski bag with the lashing straps
Only store skis in the through-load ski bag.
Always secure the through-load ski bag with the lashing straps so that it cannot move around.
A maximum of four pairs of skis or two snowboards may be transported in the ski and snowboard bag.
Fold the centre rear seat backrest forwards.
Slide the ski and snowboard bag between the outer seat backrests into the rear.
Open zip .
. Load the ski and snowboard bag with the skis or snowboards.
Close zip .
. Pull the tensioning strap tight by the loose end.
Cross lashing straps .
. Engage hooks of lashing straps in tie-down eyes 
. Make sure that the fasteners of hooks are facing upwards.

WARNING Risk of accident due to the ball neck not being engaged
If the ball neck is not engaged, the trailer may come loose.
Always engage the ball neck as described.
WARNING Risk of injury from ball neck swinging outwards
The ball neck may swing outwards when unlocking or when it has not been properly engaged.
There is a risk of injury within the ball neck's range of movement!
Unlock the ball neck only when its range of movement is unobstructed.
Always be sure the ball neck is engaged when folding inwards.
Requirements:
The transmission has been shifted to position
or 
. The range of movement is clear.
Only when folding in: The trailer cables or adapter plugs are removed.
Folding the ball neck out
Pull release switch until the ball neck unlocks.
until the ball neck unlocks. The ball neck will fold out from under the rear bumper.
Indicator lamp will flash.
Pull the ball neck in the direction of the arrow until it engages audibly in a vertical position.
Indicator lamp on the ball neck release switch will go out.
If the ball neck is not securely locked in place, the Check trailer hitch lockdisplay message will appear on the multifunction display.
Remove the cover from the ball head and store it in a safe place.
Make sure that the ball on the ball neck is clean. Check that it is either greased or dry (grease-free), depending on the instructions for the trailer.
Folding the ball neck in
Pull release switch until the ball neck unlocks.

Indicator lamp will flash.
Push the ball neck in the direction of the arrow until it engages audibly behind the bumper.
Indicator lamp will go out and the message on the multifunction display will disappear.

If objects in the vehicle interior are stowed incorrectly, they can slide or be thrown around and hit vehicle occupants. In addition, cup holders, open stowage spaces and mobile phone receptacles cannot always retain all objects they contain.
There is a risk of injury, particularly in the event of sudden braking or a sudden change in direction.
Always stow objects so that they cannot be thrown around in such situations.
Always make sure that objects do not protrude from stowage spaces, luggage nets or stowage nets.
Close the lockable stowage spaces before starting a journey.
Always stow and secure heavy, hard, pointed, sharp-edged, fragile or bulky objects in the boot/load compartment.
Observe the notes on loading the vehicle.
Locking and unlocking the glove box
WARNING Risk of injury due to objects being stowed incorrectly
If you inadequately stow objects in the vehicle interior, they could slip or be tossed around and thereby strike vehicle occupants. In addition, cup holders, open stowage spaces and mobile phone brackets cannot always restrain the objects they contain in the event of an accident.
There is a risk of injury, particularly in the event of sudden braking or a sudden change in direction.
Always stow objects in such a way that they cannot be tossed about in these or similar situations.
Always make sure that objects do not project from stowage spaces, luggage nets or stowage nets.
Close the lockable stowage spaces before starting a journey.
Always stow and secure objects that are heavy, hard, pointed, sharp-edged, fragile or too large in the boot.
Observe the notes on loading the vehicle.
Turn the emergency key a quarter turn clockwise
